In November 2015, two heat-conducting oil fires occurred in Wujin, Changzhou and Liyang respectively. The heat-conducting oil fire accident in Wujin Chemical Plant happened in the waste boiler. With the flow of heat-conducting oil, the fire spread continuously. The firemen immediately dispatched two foam guns to put out the fire. The main reason is that when the old boiler was dismantled, the heat conduction tubing was accidentally welded through, and the spark ignited the heat conduction oil. In addition, the fire accident in a chemical factory in Liyang was caused by the ruptured thermal conductive oil pipe. The leaking thermal conductive oil was quickly burned by open fire, and the fire was also extremely fierce. According to the situation on the scene, the firefighters immediately dispatched foam guns to control the fire, which lasted for three hours and eliminated the danger.


Although the two accidents were put out by firefighters with all their strength and no casualties were caused, the occurrence of the accident not only affected the normal production operation of the enterprise, but also related to property and safety. Therefore, in order to ensure the normal, safe and stable operation of the thermal oil system, we need to consider many factors, including the quality of the thermal oil and oil products, the reasonable design of the thermal oil system and the daily safe use specifications.


The quality of thermal oil is the core of safe operation of thermal oil system. The use of unqualified heat-conducting oil products or products not approved for use and products without production qualification will result in the oil products reaching the scrap standard in a short period of time.
