A 50MW trough-type CSP station uses about 1,800 to 3,000 tons of heat transfer oil. The specific amount is related to the number of loops, pipe lengths and heat storage hours of the specific power station. We take the average value and make an estimate. According to the Chinese government’s plan to achieve 3GW of solar thermal power generation capacity by 2020, it is conservatively estimated that the installed capacity of trough-type power stations is 60% or 1.8GW. The demand for oil is about 90,000 tons. Based on the market price of 35,000 yuan per ton of heat transfer oil, the market value is about 3.15 billion yuan.

The above estimate does not consider the demand for partial replacement of heat transfer oil during the entire life cycle of the CSP station.

Once China's CSP market obtains policy support to start, referring to the development history of the photovoltaic market, the target of 3GW installed capacity in 2020 will be easily broken. Therefore, the forecast of the market value of CSP heat transfer oil of more than 3.1 billion yuan before 2020 is relatively conservative.

On September 14, 2016, the National Energy Administration officially issued the [Notice of the National Energy Administration on the Construction of Solar Thermal Power Demonstration Projects]. A total of 20 projects were selected for the first batch of CSP demonstration projects in China, including 9 tower power stations. , 7 trough-type power stations and 4 Fresnel-type power stations are expected to be put into operation before December 31, 2018.
